Two loose nails hold the door/front closed. The door opens down to allow you to attach the box to a tree or building and to allow a licensed bat worker to check the box for use by bats.

The box measures approximately 41cm / 16" (H), 20cm / 8" (W) and 23cm / 9" (D).

The standard box is supplied with a fixed roof.  Also available is a hinged-roof version which is fastened using a hook and eye on the front of the box.

Handmade wooden green oak Barbastelle bat nursery roost bat box.  These boxes are designed to replicate the roosts created when branches split etc.

 

  • Made from 1" thick green oak using stainless steel screws.
  •  Untreated wood (as preservatives can harm bats).
  •  Rough timber to provide grip.
  •  Back-plate with drilled holes to aid easy fastening to a building or tree.
  •  There are gaps at the top of the central two dividing walls to allow bats to move between the different chambers without leaving the box.

 

The boxes measure approx. 100cm (H) x 25cm (W) x 25cm (D).

  • Grooves on both sides of each of the three dividing walls to provide grip.
  • There are two holes at the top of each of the dividing walls to allow bats to move between the separate chambers.
  • Made from marine plywood and using brass screws.
  • The exterior of the box is treated with wildlife-friendly preservative (see available colours below).
  • Ventilation slots in the sides and front.
  • Roofing felt which protects the box from the weather, making it last much longer.
  • Self-cleaning and low maintenance.

Measures approximately 17.5"/45cm (W), 31"/78cm (H) x 7"/18cm (D). ​
